Book cover Blue on Blue
Dianne White (2014) , under 40 pages
Illustrated by Beth Krommes
Audience: Toddlers, Preschool
Category: Earth Friendly, NCCBA, Read Aloud, Spring, Summer

Day starts and the morning is bright, "Blue on blue. White on white." But as the day moves along, the clouds begin to grow and blue skies turn from gray to black as a storm is looming. Lightning flashes, thunder roars and rain falls on the farm. The rain falls and falls... will it ever stop? Slowly, slowly the sky lightens and the rain slows. Muddy puddles for splashing and sunset bring a clear and quiet night. This beautiful picture book filled with colorful etchings leads us through a rainy day. Gentle text ushers in the storm and leads us back to the quiet safety when the rain finally ends. A wonderful book to share with children who worry about thunder and lightning or those who love a mud puddle to splash in.

Each page follows the lives of robins, from building a nest, caring for young, to life through the seasons. Author’s notes tell how this book came to be and gives more facts about robins and how they live. This is the first picture book by Jorey Hurley, and you’ll hope it isn’t the last.

Not just great, not just fantastic, not just wonderful. This is a truly awesome book about all the different kinds of love in the world. Quirky art, bouncy rhythmic language, and a heartwarming message make this a perfect book to share at Valentine`s Day, or any time of the year with someone you love. This is an awesome book to be enjoyed, whether that person is near or far, to remind them that "the more love is shared, the greater it grows, the further it reaches, and the greater it becomes."

Audience: Preschool, Primary (k-3rd grade)
Category: Adventure, Earth Friendly, Read Aloud, Spring

Claire is a rare Glasswing butterfly. Glasswing butterflies are special; they have clear wings and can turn the color of their surroundings. Claire loves having wings of orange, green, blue, and even flowered patterns! One day Claire gets lost from her family and doesn’t know what to do! The wind takes her away and into a city with dull colors. Claire’s new friends show her a flower garden where she can find food. Will her family ever find her? The energetic, brightly colored illustrations allow Claire to really shine. This is a great story about making friends in strange places.
